The original traditional hardcover house, despite having a floor area of 140 square metres, three south-facing bedrooms and a double balcony, the overall design was bland and unattractive, making it difficult to inspire the homeowner’s desire to move in immediately.
However, after careful remodelling, this fusion home has undergone a magnificent transformation in terms of layout, furniture and style. It not only meets the needs of the homeowner in different stages of life, but also creates a quiet, comfortable leisure space that makes people long for it, as if they have found a warm harbour that truly belongs to them.
Ⅰ. Elegant and low-key medieval style, enjoy life in the flow of light and shadow
The sense of ceremony of returning home is quietly opened from the entry area. The entrance cabinet directly opposite the door is cleverly designed, can be used as a shoe bench, but also used to store commuting clothes in the cupboard, convenient and orderly. While practical, it is also highly decorative, becoming a highlight of the entrance end view. A small painting hanging in the middle is full of family warmth, as if telling the owner who returns home late: “There is always a light for you too.
In order to increase the storage volume of the entrance cabinet, the designer extended it to a small part of the living room space. Such a design, just with the TV background hanging decorative cabinets perfectly blended together, more holistic and spatial sense of hierarchy.
On the left hand side of the entrance door, a set of high cabinets doubles the storage capacity for the entry area. Powerful storage function not only meets the daily needs, but also allows space to be released, highlighting the owner’s unique style and lifestyle. Through the entry area, a picture of ‘living room and kitchen’ unfolds. The black-and-white terrazzo tiles and the parquet flooring are cleverly connected, not only dividing the two functional areas, but also realising the perfect fusion of the two styles.
After removing the sliding door at the balcony, the living room becomes more transparent and comfortable, and the lighting is much better. Light is reflected through the large windows to all corners of the space, even if you are indoors, you can always keep in touch with the outdoor nature.
The lines of the living room are clean and smooth, and the choice of furniture and materials exudes a sense of sophistication that transcends time. This is perhaps what makes mid-century design so appealing – timeless and classic.

The centre of the dining space is a round dining table with a beige travertine texture, which is rustic, warm and versatile, as if it were a natural part of the space. Matching with three antique dining chairs, the whole space has a more harmonious atmosphere.
The unique chandelier is the finishing touch. Designed by a niche Lithuanian designer, this lamp is like a ring of stars, cascading down, skilfully combining natural wood and modern lamps. When the light falls gently, it creates a romantic atmosphere as if you were at a candlelit dinner, bringing endless enjoyment to the homeowner.

Bedding is also light-coloured, simple and soft, and the whole sleeping area exudes a calmness that rejects too much information and focuses on resting and settling down.

The addition of a walk-in cloakroom increases the storage volume of the bedroom by at least three times, and also allows the homeowner to more reasonably partition storage, such as the male wardrobe, female wardrobe, commuter wardrobe, and temporary storage. The designer also used the bedroom’s floating window to build a reasonably sized small dresser space that is compact and harmonious.

The public bathroom, although limited in size, achieves simplicity without monotony through a rich and layered combination of materials – white mosaic tiles, teak-coloured finishes and plain ceramic tiles are cleverly matched.
