Interior design is an industry that keeps up with trends and has an extremely keen grasp of popular trends. According to the practice of the design industry, every year there will be a new vane, this constant search for new ideas is always the core driving force to promote the development of the design field. Therefore, today I want to talk to you, in the current home improvement, what should be avoided home style.
White Kitchens
Clean white kitchens were once all the rage and accepted by the majority of homeowners. The predominantly white, light colours expanded the sense of space and made the kitchen look neat and bright. Today, however, this style seems to lack personality and aesthetic appeal. Moreover, white materials are prone to yellowing over the years and are quite troublesome to clean.
Experienced designers will incorporate personalised elements into the white base, such as painting part of the white walls with bright colours or replacing cabinet panels with woodgrain or pale yellow slate to give the kitchen a fresh look.
Mosaic mosaics
Once upon a time, whether it was a bathroom wall, floor parquet, or kitchen wall panelling, mosaic tessellation was the stage to shine. Today, however, the process is old and on the verge of obsolescence. Modern ceramic tiles and stone panels come in a wide range of colours and craftsmanship and are very popular. In the bathroom and kitchen space, mosaic mosaic process has been rare, even if there is a pattern applique design, people will choose more beautiful tiles.
Dull curtains with
Dreary curtains refer to those heavy and dark-coloured fabric curtains that used to fill every window in the bedroom, dimming the light in the room. This style may have been favoured by certain groups of people in the past, but modern people prefer the idea of nature and lightweight, light-permeable curtain materials. This type of material is becoming a new favourite for new age window treatments.
Granite Countertops
Granite countertops were once widely used in cabinet countertops, its deep texture is quite characteristic. However, the more colourful and complex the texture, the more likely to affect the overall coordination of the space.
In the past, people chose granite mainly for its strong and durable characteristics. But with the introduction of new countertop materials, durable and stylish options are more and more. In order to meet the personalised consumer psychology, designers are more willing to use a variety of materials to mix and match, granite countertops, the use of the rate is therefore much less than before.
Bed skirts
Bed skirts have been around for a long time, but they are not common in modern bedroom décor. This type of decor can look too old-school and can be difficult to clean and maintain. What’s more, modern beds are often designed with a wrap-around edge, making bed skirts lose their functional value. Its only remaining decorative value has also been eliminated due to lack of practicality.
Green grey tone cabinet board
Greenish grey is a neutral and cool tone, if a lot of this tone is used to cover the walls, beds and furniture, it will make the whole home space looks depressing. Moreover, greenish grey is difficult to match with other colours, which is an inherent disadvantage of cool colours.
Industrial Decor
Despite the fact that in recent years, the industrial décor style has gained popularity among some young people who are looking for individuality. However, there is no denying that this style is too cold and not ideal for many homeowners. Most people want a warm, cosy home in order to gain peace from the hectic pace of the city. Industrial elements, on the other hand, have the opposite effect.
Concrete floors
Concrete was once a favourite in the design world since the 80s. But similar to the industrial décor style, its cold, plain and dull appearance has fallen out of favour in recent years. While it’s extremely durable and easy to maintain, materials that meet these conditions abound in modern decorating materials that are even more capable and cost-effective.
Overly Open Designed Wall Cabinets
Open wall cabinets may seem aesthetically pleasing when first selecting decorating materials. But honestly, who wants to consistently display the clutter in their cabinets? It would look like a total mess. Will you still be in the mood to cook happily every time you enter your kitchen and see the messy clutter in your closet? This unscientific design doesn’t actually do any good, except for the fact that it feels good when it’s first installed.
Rustic etched wood elements
With the rise of rustic bed and breakfast design, some home decorators are trying to incorporate rustic elements into modern house design. Sliding antique etched wood doors are one of the elements represented. The rise of this trend may have something to do with some of the home remodeling shows featuring farmhouse styles. But many interior designers (including me) don’t think this trend will last.
In fact, how many of us live in farm-like places? And how many city dwellers are willing to design their house in a half-modern, half-country layout? Perhaps in the small number of interior styles where it’s appropriate, this element still applies. But there is already a vague sense that the trend is fading.
Everyone has a different need and niche for decorating styles. You don’t need to follow trends blindly. What I have mentioned in this article are just some of the experiences I have shared. If you are planning to renovate or newly decorate your home, I hope these contents can provide you with some references.
When renovating your home, remember to avoid home styles that are outdated or unpopular! Home styles that should be avoided not only affect the aesthetics, but also may affect your living experience. So, when choosing a decorating style, be sure to consider it carefully!
